Ascension Parish, LA – Unidentified Bicyclist Killed on LA-74
Ascension Parish, LA (July 10, 2021) – At about 11:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9th, troopers from the Louisiana State Police were called to the scene of a deadly accident involving a bicyclist on State Highway 74 at the Interstate 10 overpass in Ascension Parish.
The cyclist was killed during the crash.
An investigation determined that the accident took place as the cyclist was riding southbound in the southbound lane of the highway. In the meantime, a 2011 Ford F-150 was traveling directly behind the bicyclist. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford struck the bike.
The bicyclist was seriously injured as a result of the impact. He was taken by paramedics to a nearby hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Ford was unharmed during the accident.
