Avondale, LA – Criminal Charges Considered Following Death of Motorcyclist Christopher Molina on US-90

January 27, 2022

Avondale, LA (August 17, 2021) – Troopers from the Louisiana State Police responded to the area of US-90 near West Tish Drive in Jefferson Parish for reports of a fatal two-vehicle crash that ultimately claimed the life of 35-year-old Christopher Molina, a resident of Westwego.

The accident took place on Tuesday, August 17 at about 4:45 a.m.

On-scene evidence along with witness statements revealed that Molina was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on US 90 just as a 2006 Mack tractor-trailer pulled out of a private parking lot and traversed the westbound lanes of US 90 in an attempt to make a lefthand turn onto US-90 east, causing the motorcycle to strike the back of the trailer and throw Molina onto the asphalt.

Even though he was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Molina was severely injured. He was taken by ambulance to a local medical facility where he passed away.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed during the incident.

Toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and tendered for analysis.

Troopers are still processing evidence pertaining to the collision and have stated that any traffic and criminal charges will be turned over to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office upon the completion of their investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. Christopher Molina, at this time.

Severe injuries, like traumatic brain injury or even wrongful death, are often the result of motorcycle accidents, especially when the collision involves another vehicle. This is because motorcycles do not provide any of the safety features that occupants of a passenger vehicle often take for granted, such as seat belts, a roll cage, and airbags, leaving riders susceptible to enduring severe internal injuries, as well as injuries to their spinal cord and brain.

These life-altering injuries can cost several thousand dollars in medical expenses that cause the rider and their family to suffer an economic hardship from which they may never recover.
