Avoyelles Parish, LA – Brandy R. Hairford Killed in Wreck on Coleman Ln

Avoyelles Parish, LA (August 22, 2021) – On Sunday, August 22nd, Louisiana State Police were called to investigate a fatal two-vehicle accident on Louisiana Highway 1179 in the area of Coleman Lane.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Brandy R. Hairford, a resident of Plaucheville.

Initial lines of inquiry determined that, at about 11:00 a.m., a 2006 Ford Fusion, driven by Hairford, was heading southbound along Louisiana Highway 1179 when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, she crossed over the center line into northbound traffic where she collided head-on with a 2013 Dodge Durango.

Hairford sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the Durango received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mrs. Brandy R. Hairford, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.

Head-On Accidents in Avoyelles Parish

When a driver heads into traffic coming from the opposite direction, the likelihood of a deadly head-on crash is high. These kinds of accidents are often far more severe than other forms of two-car crashes. Accident data indicates that these wrong-way collisions have a 60% mortality rate. While these accidents only account for approximately 2% of all traffic accidents annually in Louisiana, they are responsible for around 10% of all yearly vehicular fatalities.

When a person is harmed in a car crash brought on by another driver’s negligence, they will have legal avenues open to them. By seeking the legal counsel of an Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana personal injury attorney, victims can learn about the various legal avenues they may wish to pursue.

A head-on collision, also known as a wrong-way collision, is a term that refers to the impact between the front-ends of two vehicles moving in opposite directions. This type of car crash has the highest chance of leaving its victims with serious or even fatal injuries. The amount of force that is typically exerted during this kind of collision is extreme and the reason head-on collisions accounted for almost 30% of all fatal traffic accidents in 2017.
