Baker, LA – Child Airlifted in Critical Condition After Crash on Hwy 19

Baker, LA (July 28, 2021) – According to the Baker Police Department, emergency responders reported to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the morning of Wednesday, July 28th when a woman drove her vehicle into the oncoming lanes of traffic on Highway 19.  

The woman crashed into one vehicle before striking a second one head-on.  

Officials confirmed that a child was thrown from the wrong-way vehicle.  

The Baker Fire Department was called to the scene of the crash on Highway 19 at about 10:50 a.m. 

According to emergency officials, four people were transported to local trauma centers, including one child in critical condition.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department stated that the head-on collision involved a total of three vehicles, including one pick-up truck and two cars, and the two of the occupants of the pick-up truck, the driver and a child, were ejected from the vehicle.

AirMed was called in to transport the child from the scene.

The Baker Police Department, Emergency Medical Services, and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office assisted the Baker Fire Department at the site.
