Batchelor, LA – Unidentified Body Recovered From House Fire on 3rd St

Batchelor, LA (July 27, 2021) – A woman in Pointe Coupee died in a house fire on Friday, July 23rd.

The Pointe Coupee Parish Fire District 1 responded to reports of a structure fire in the 13000 block of 3rd Street in Batchelor at about 10:00 p.m. 

Investigators have determined that the fire broke out in the area of the laundry room. During the course of their investigation, they discovered a woman’s body in one of the bedrooms.

The Pointe Coupee Coroner’s office is still working to identify the woman and the cause of her death.

During the initial inspection of the house, deputies were unable to locate any working home sprinkler systems or smoke detectors.

The cause of this fire is under investigation.
