Denham Springs, LA – Clayton Smith Killed in Collision on Magnolia Beach Rd
Denham Springs, LA (August 17, 2021) – On Monday, August 16th, at about 9:00 p.m., troopers from the Louisiana State Police were called to investigate a deadly two-car accident on Magnolia Beach Road in the area of State Highway 1019 in Livingston Parish.
The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Clayton Smith, a resident of Greenwell Springs.
An investigation determined that the crash occurred as Smith was driving eastbound on Magnolia Beach Road in a 2002 BMW 745 just a 2017 Ford F-250 was driving westbound on the same road.
For reasons that have yet to be determined, Smith veered across the centerline into oncoming traffic and struck the Ford head-on. After crashing into the Ford, the BMW went up in flames.
Due to the severity of the impact, restraint use on the part of Smith is not known at this time. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was properly restrained and was transported by paramedics with moderate injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis.
