Creola, LA – Suspect Fleeing Police Injures Two in Head-On Accident on S. Jones St

Creola, LA (July 23, 2021) – Officials reported that a police chase in Winn Parish came to a violent end as a vehicle being pursued by police collided head-first with another vehicle.

Winnfield Police were notified of a car chase that started in the small village of Creola, roughly 40 miles south of Winnfield. Winn Parish Sheriff’s Deputy’s attempts to employ spike strips to stop the fleeing vehicle just outside of town were unsuccessful.

The pursued vehicle crossed into the city limits from US 167S, and then turned onto South Jones Street and, in the area of the Moss Street intersection, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on.

The other vehicle was driven by an 18-year-old male from Dodson. His younger sister was a passenger in the vehicle. Both sustained non-critical injuries during the crash and were transported by paramedics to the Winn Parish Medical Center for medical treatment.

The fleeing vehicle, which was registered in Texas, was occupied by 21-year-old Tarik Rouchon, a resident of Baldwin. It is unclear if Rouchon was the driver or a passenger. Rouchon was trapped following the impact and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Winnfield Fire Department personnel.

Officers from Creola recovered THC crystals, THC oils, and over $14,000 in cash from the vehicle, as well as multiple weapons. Rouchon was taken by ambulance to Rapides Regional Medical Center in guarded condition.

This incident remains under investigation by the Creola Police Department.

The Winnfield Fire Department, Winnfield Police Department, Creola Police Department, Advance EMS Services, and the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the tracking team from the Winn Parish Correctional Facility all assisted with the chase or subsequent accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
