Gonzales, LA – Christopher Holmes Killed, One Injured in Two-Car Crash on I-10 in Ascension Parish

Gonzales, LA (September 12, 2021) – Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal, two-car accident on Sunday, September 12th in Gonzales. The crash took place at about 4:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 near mile marker 175 in Ascension Parish.

The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Christopher Holmes, a resident of Albany.

Investigators reported that the crash happened when a 2007 Nissan Altima driving eastbound on Interstate 10 crashed into the back of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the same direction.

After colliding with the Chevrolet, the Nissan came to rest in the eastbound lanes of the interstate where it was struck by Holmes, who was also driving eastbound in a 2005 Ford Expedition. 

After hitting the Nissan, the Expedition crossed into the median and overturned.

Holmes sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The driver of the Chevrolet was unharmed during the incident. 

Per police protocol, toxicology samples were collected from Holmes and the driver of the Chevrolet for analysis.

The driver of the Nissan fled the scene.
