Grand Isle, LA – One Killed, Six Injured, & Twelve Missing After Boat Crash near Port Fourchon
Grand Isle, LA (April 15, 2021) – A major maritime accident has claimed one person’s life while leaving several others injured on missing on Tuesday afternoon. On April 13, at around 4:30 p.m., emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed near Port Fourchon.
Reports from local news sources show that a 129-foot boat capsized just south of the port during a strong windstorm on Tuesday afternoon. US Coast Guards responded to the scene of the accident and immediately began searching the water for missing or injured parties.
One person sustained fatal injuries as a result of this incident. Six other people were rescued and transported to area hospitals for the treatment of injuries. A total of twelve people are still unaccounted for. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
