Harvey, LA – James Overby Killed in Wreck on US-90B Near McArthur Ave
Harvey, LA (June 23, 2021) – On Monday, June 21st, Marrero resident 57-year-old James Overby was killed during a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson Parish.
The accident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of US-90B in the area of MacArthur Avenue in Harvey.
Reports show that Overby was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima on the raised portion of US-90B when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, his vehicle left the roadway at the MacArthur Avenue exit and struck the crash barrier. The Altima then spun across the righthand lane and into the center lane of the highway where it collided with an oncoming 2017 Honda Pilot.
Overby sustained serious injuries on impact. Paramedics transported him to a local trauma center where he later died.
The occupants of the Honda Pilot sustained non-critical injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
