Deaths From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Jefferson Parish
In the days following Hurricane Ida, there has been a terrifying increase in fatal carbon monoxide poisonings caused by emergency generators. Tens of thousands of southeast Louisiana residents do not currently have access to commercial power. As a result, many families are using diesel or gasoline-powered generators to keep their lights on, and their freezers and refrigerators running. In some cases, these generators are used to power entire homes and keep central air working.
If you have been a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning, it is important to find out what caused it. A Jefferson Parish personal injury attorney will be able to carry out a painstaking investigation of the events leading up to the incident.
Carbon monoxide has been dubbed the silent killer because its fumes are odorless, tasteless, and colorless. Thanks to these characteristics, it can be hard to readily identify the onset of carbon monoxide poisoning.
