Lafayette, LA – Five Pedestrians, One Driver Injured in Car Accident at University Ave and Johnston St
Lafayette, LA (September 14, 2021) – A driver and five pedestrians sustained injuries in a car accident that took place at the intersection of Johnston Street and University Avenue on Tuesday, September 14th at about 10:50 a.m.
Officials said that, according to witnesses, a car ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into another vehicle, striking five pedestrians who were waiting to cross the road.
One of the pedestrians was moderately injured. The other four sustained injuries believed to be non-critical.
The driver that ran the red light also had moderate injuries. The driver was cited for multiple traffic violations.
Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash.
