Monroe, LA – Injuries Reported in Truck Accident on I-20 WB at S Second St
Monroe, LA (July 14, 2021) – On Wednesday, July 14, officers with the Monroe Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a big-rig collision that occurred on westbound Interstate 20 in the Monroe area.
An initial investigation showed that a Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on I-20 when he encountered traffic and collided with another vehicle, causing the trailer to overturn and block the entire highway. The incident occurred close to exit 117, the ramp to South Second Street. The total number of vehicles involved, as well as specific information about the victims and their injuries, has not been released. However, EMS units responded to treat those in need.
The occupants of the other vehicle all reportedly sustained moderate injuries and were evaluated on the scene or transported for further treatment. No fatalities have been reported at this time, though the investigation into the wreck is still ongoing.
