Morgan City, LA (May 26, 2021) – An explosion incident reported on Tuesday sent several people to area hospitals with injuries. At approximately 5 p.m., on May 25, the Louisiana State Police received the request for assistance following an explosion near St Mary Parish.
Reports from the Louisiana State Police Emergency Response Unit show that a gas well near the Wax Bayou exploded during the early evening hours. The incident caused moderate damage in the area.
Four people who were on-site at the time of the explosion were injured. Two victims were transported via ambulance to area hospitals while two others were airlifted to nearby hospitals for care. At this time, the state police are investigating to determine the cause of the explosion.
