According to the highway patrol, the accident took place at about 6:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 610 at the Canal Boulevard exit.
The lefthand lane was shut down so police and emergency medics could respond to the scene. They assisted in vehicle rescue, road clean-up, and pre-hospital emergency care.
