New Orleans, LA – Five Hospitalized When Fist Fight Causes School Bus Crash on Tchoupitoulas St
New Orleans, LA (August 26, 2021) – Five students were hospitalized after their bus driver collided with a taxi while trying to break up a fight on Thursday, August 26th.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the school bus was at the corner of Josephine Street and Tchoupitoulas Street at about 8:35 a.m. when some of the students onboard began fighting. The driver was attempting to break up the row when he struck the back of a taxi.
The impact shoved the taxi into the rear of a third vehicle, whose driver fled the scene.
Out of the 20 students on the school bus, five of them were transported to an area hospital with non-critical injuries. The uninjured students were taken to school.
No one in the taxi was hurt.
Officers cited the school bus driver for failure to maintain reasonable vigilance and for lacking proof of insurance.
