It is very unnerving to learn that the largest portion of traffic accidents take place just a few miles from home. Drivers who are just popping out to go to the corner market, the supermarket, take their dog for a walk in a local park, or stop by to visit with a friend or relative for the evening are not any safer than a driver who is planning to drive across the state or across the country.

Following most collisions, crash victims will be left to deal with serious injuries. Common accident-related injuries include broken and fractured bones, internal organ damage, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries. This list is far from complete and lots of other serious injuries could force victims to undergo long and expensive hospitalizations, medical treatments, and even long-term care.

It is crucial that drivers never become complacent or let their guard down just because they are driving on a familiar street they have traveled many times before, running a daily errand to the gas station or the post office. Lowered awareness increases the likelihood of a car accident taking place, even when your destination is just around the corner.
