New Orleans, LA – Pedestrian Dies After Being Knocked Off Overpass on I-610 Near Elysian Fields
New Orleans, LA (June 18, 2021) – On Sunday, July 13th, one man was killed when a car struck him while he was walking along Interstate 610 in New Orleans.
The accident happened at about 2:15 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 610 in the area of Elysian Fields when a man walking along the lefthand side of the interstate was struck by a Didge Challenger.
Reports show that the impact knocked the man over the guardrail and he fell onto the roadway near the intersection of Benefit Street and St. Anthony Avenue.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and has cooperated with investigators. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
This accident is under investigation.
