New Orleans, LA – Unidentified Man Killed in One Car Crash Moments After Surviving Another on I-10

March 28, 2024

New Orleans, LA (August 16, 2021) – A man was killed when he was hit by a car on Interstate 10 on the morning of Sunday, August 15th after he exited his vehicle which had been involved in another accident just moments before.

The occupants of the striking vehicle were transported by Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital. Their medical statuses were not immediately available.

Officers from the New Orleans Police Department’s Seventh District were dispatched to the scene at about 1:35 a.m. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital via ambulance in an effort to save his life, but he was pronounced dead by a medical professional at 3:42 a.m.ย ย

The victimโ€™s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Officers originally reported the event as a hit and run since it appeared that none of the people in the third vehicle had remained on the scene.

Further inquiry determined that the occupants of that vehicle were all taken to the hospital but their names had not been turned over to the police, causing officers to believe that they had fled the scene. A relative of one of the victims saw the news report and informed the police of what had happened.

The driver of the vehicle has since spoken with investigators from the NOPD and has cooperated with the investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the victim at this time.
