Head-on car accidents are uniquely destructive. These powerful and often brutal collisions have the power to end victim’s lives and cause catastrophic injuries to those who manage to survive. Wrong-way accidents typically happen when a driver loses control of their vehicle, which can stem from speeding, driver intoxication, and driver distraction.

When a driver heads into traffic coming from the opposite direction, the likelihood of a deadly head-on crash is high. These kinds of accidents are often far more severe than other forms of two-car crashes. Accident data indicates that these wrong-way collisions have a 60% mortality rate. While these accidents only account for approximately 2% of all traffic accidents annually in Louisiana, they are responsible for around 10% of all yearly vehicular fatalities.
