April 18, 2024

Rapides Parish, LA (August 05, 2021) –  On Thursday, August 5th, at about 11:30 a.m., troopers from the Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Louisiana Highway 496 at the intersection of North Bayou Rapides Road.

The deceased has since been identified as 59-year-old Brian K Ambrose, a resident of Montgomery.

An initial investigation determined that a 1997 Chevrolet pick-up truck, driven by 57-year-old William James Powers, a resident of Vicksburg, MS, was heading southbound on North Bayou Rapides Road. As Powers neared the intersection of Louisiana Highway 496, he neglected to stop at the stop sign before continuing. As a result, the Chevrolet was struck by an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck when it entered the intersection.

Powers sustained injuries classified as non-critical. His passenger, Brian Ambrose, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver and a passenger in the 2003 Chevrolet also sustained non-critical injuries and were transported by paramedics to a local hospital.

Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. Brian K. Ambrose, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
