Scott, LA – Firefighter Injured Battling Blaze at EMR Southern Recycling on Cameron St
Scott, LA (August 22, 2021) – A firefighter sustained injuries during a weekend fire at the EMR Southern Recycling facility in Lafayette Parish.
According to officials, firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a commercial fire in the 4800 block of Cameron Street on Saturday, August 21st at about 1:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered smoke and heavy flames pouring out of the back of the facility.
They forced their way through the entry gate where they found a motor home, isolated from the recycling portion of the facility, engulfed in flames. They were able to bring the fire under control before it spread to any machinery or other structures.
One firefighter was transported and treated for heat-related injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
