Shreveport, LA (June 8, 2021) – One person has lost their life following a fire incident in the Shreveport area on Friday morning. On June 4, the Shreveport Fire Department was requested at the scene of a fire incident on Pines Road.

Reports from authorities show that a fire broke out inside a home located in the 4100 block of Pines Road during the morning hours.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and began to battle the blaze. A 17-year-old male and his father, former mayoral candidate Melvin Slack, suffered severe burn injuries in the accident. Authorities confirmed that the teen later died from his injuries. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
