Swartz, LA – Thomas Deaton, Jr Killed in Crash on LA-139 near LA-134

Swartz, LA (June 12, 2021) – An automobile accident reported on Monday evening claimed one man’s life. At around 6 p.m., on June 7, emergency crews were notified that an accident took place on Louisiana State Highway 139.

Reports from authorities show that a 2003 GMC Sonoma, driven by 35-year-old Jorge Rodriguez-Zuniga, was traveling north on Louisiana State Highway 139 when it collided with a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by 74-year-old Thomas Deaton, Jr., near Louisiana State Highway 134.

Deaton was ejected from his vehicle, suffering from severe injuries. Authorities rushed to the scene and pronounced the man deceased. Rodriguez-Zuniga showed signs of impairment and was arrested. At this time, the Louisiana State Police is investigating the crash.
