West Monroe, LA – Police Locate Hit-and-Run Driver From Injury Crash at LA-34 and Smith St
West Monroe, LA (June 24, 2021) – Louisiana State Police were called to the intersection of Louisiana Highway 34 and Smith Street on Thursday, June 24 in response to a hit-and-run car accident.
The victim told officers that she made a left-hand turn off of Smith Street onto the highway when the light was green. As she entered the intersection, however, she was hit on her passenger side by a Toyota car.
The victim then stated that a man, who has since been identified as Matthew Williams, 34, got out of his car, presumably to assist the injured victim. Williams then informed the victim he was going to be late for work and fled the scene, providing neither his name nor his contact information.
As stated in the arrest report, the victim had noted William’s license plate number before he absconded which investigators were able to use to locate him.
