New Orleans, LA – Traffic Fatality Unit Investigates Multi-Car Crash on I-10
New Orleans, LA (July 24, 2021) – One woman was killed during a car accident in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in the area of mile marker 248.
A source inside the New Orleans Police Department reported that the crash took place at about 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24th.
The crash included three vehicles and involved a total of five people.
Investigators stated that a sedan was traveling eastbound along Interstate 10 when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, it collided with a sport utility vehicle. The force of the impact generated by the crash caused the SUV to strike a guardrail. Immediately after, a third vehicle, a sedan, struck the rear-end of the SUV.
The woman who was killed was a passenger in the SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being held pending notification of next of kin.
Another female occupant of the SUV was transported by paramedics to an area trauma center for emergency medical treatment, as was a woman from the third vehicle.
Two men, who were also involved in the accident, were completely unharmed.
NOPD’s Traffic Fatality Unit is investigating the cause of this accident.
