New Orleans, LA (May 21, 2021) – A workplace accident reported off Marsh Island claimed one person’s life. On May 15, emergency crews were called to the scene of a major accident in the Gulf of Mexico.

Reports provided by Fieldwood Energy LLC show that a contractor was involved in an accident while performing a non-emergency casing pressure test on a shut-in well on an unmanned platform located approximately 125-miles southwest of New Orleans.

The worker sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was declared deceased. At this time, investigations surrounding the accident are underway.
