Rear-End Collisions in Alexandria

8.20 Alexandria, LA - APD Investigates Crash That Killed Driver, Unborn Child on Jackson St

Accidents like this are not uncommon on our state’s highways, where traffic is often disordered and drivers must frequently brake and accelerate. Rear-end collisions can be extremely dangerous even though the majority take place at less than 30 miles per hour. The best way to avoid these potentially fatal crashes is to maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you at all times. Following too closely, even in traffic, endangers you and those around you.

When an accident that stems from another person’s negligence causes someone harm, it is imperative that they reach out to a dependable Alexandria car accident attorney as soon as they are able. Most collision victims are entitled to financial compensation intended to help alleviate the financial obstacles they are sure to face.

Rear-end collisions, also called chain-reaction accidents, are a kind of accident that is common in Louisiana. They are most often caused by tailgating, or one vehicle following too closely to another. Driving laws in Louisiana require drivers to keep a reasonable distance between themselves and other vehicles at all times.

When one vehicle tailgates another, any slowing or braking done by the leading car can easily cause the second to crash into its rear-end. The force of the resulting impact could be enough to thrust the first car into the rear-end of the vehicle in front of it, causing serious damage to multiple victims and multiple vehicles.
