Bicyclists are two times more likely to sustain deadly injuries after being involved in a traffic collision than a vehicle occupant. Those who survive are forced to contend with a very costly and labor-intensive road to recovery.

Our Louisiana personal injury attorneys at Smiley Law Firm genuinely care about the health and welfare of our clients. When victims are harmed in accidents through no fault of their own, we work diligently to ensure they see justice, economic recovery, and their wrongdoers are brought to account.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that, in one recent year, nearly 129,000 people nationwide needed emergency room treatment and additional medical care for bicycle accident-related injuries. Moreover, 5,376 of those 129,000 eventually died due to their injuries.

When bicyclists are injured in car accidents because of the reckless or negligent actions of another driver, they need to reach out to a New Orleans bicycle accident attorney as quickly as possible.

Research has found that having more riders on the road typically engenders more protected cycling conditions. In actuality, the percentage of deadly bicycle crashes is significantly lower in areas that have higher volumes of bicycle riders. This is due in part to the resident’s increased awareness of bicycle riders sharing the roadway.
