Desoto Parish, LA – Samuel Rodriguez Dies at Hospital Following Accident on I-49
Desoto Parish, LA (July 02, 2021) – 62-year-old Samuel Rodriguez died during a collision between three vehicles on Thursday, July 1st in Desoto Parish.
The accident took place at about 12:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 49, in the area of Louisiana Highway 175.
Police investigation of the crash revealed that a 2013 Dodge pick-up truck, driven by Rodriquez, was heading northbound along the interstate, following behind a 2020 Ford pick-up, driven by 62-year-old William Liker, a resident of Shreveport, and a 2009 Mack Truck, operated by 37-year-old Kenneth Moore, a resident of Bossier City.
For reasons still undetermined, Rodriguez crashed into the rear of Liker’s pick-up. The impact forced the vehicle into the back of Moore’s trailer. Rodriguez’s truck then left the roadway.
Toxicology samples were obtained and have been submitted for analysis to confirm driver impairment as a factor.
Following the impact, Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital. He passed away soon after.
Liker was also taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-critical injuries.
