Deville, LA – Motorcyclist Brandon D. Warthen Fatally Injured in Crash on Philadelphia Rd

Deville, LA (August 17, 2021) – Louisiana State Police have opened an investigation into the cause of a fatal two-vehicle accident on Philadelphia Road in Rapides Parish on Tuesday, August 17th that ended the life of Deville resident 31-year-old Brandon D. Warthen.  

A preliminary investigation has established that, at about 4:00 p.m., a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, pulling a trailer was traveling northbound on Philadelphia Road. As the Silverado neared a private driveway, the operator shifted into the southbound lane and slowed in order to make a righthand turn. This maneuver resulted in the trailer being struck by a 2011 Suzuki GSX, driven by Warthen, who was then ejected from the bike.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Warthen sustained mortal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The driver of the Silverado, although unrestrained at the time of the crash, was unharmed.

Toxicology samples were taken and relinquished for analysis. 

This accident is under investigation.
