Lafayette, LA – Ashanti Granger and Odis King Killed in Pedestrian Crash on NE Evangeline Thruway Service Rd
Lafayette, LA (May 29, 2021) – A pedestrian accident reported in the Lafayette area claimed the lives of two victims early Friday morning. At around 12:30 a.m., on May 28, emergency crews were requested at the scene of an accident on Northeast Evangeline Thruway.
Reports from authorities show that 18-year-old Ashanti Granger and 26-year-old Odis King were both walking near the service road in the 3100 block of Northeast Evangeline Thruway Services Road.
For unknown reasons, the two pedestrians were struck by a passing vehicle. Granger suffered fatal injuries and was immediately pronounced deceased at the scene. King was rushed to a local hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation with the Lafayette Police Traffic Unit.
