Fatal Car Accidents in Lafayette
While just about any kind of car accident can take place when one car has to turn in front of another, one of the most violent accidents that occur is a broadside collision. More commonly called a T-bone collision, these violent accidents happen when the front end of one vehicle smashes into the side of another. In 2017, T-bone collisions, along with other kinds of side-impact accidents, were responsible for the deaths of more than 1,780 vehicle occupants nationwide.
Even in the absence of design defects, such as obscured roadway signs, or road hazards like potholes, intersections present a lot of unique risks for drivers all across the country. Where intersections are concerned, there are usually multiple drivers, bicyclists, and even pedestrians in the same small area, all moving at different speeds and going in different directions. Some intersections have as many as six lanes merging all the way down to two. Intersection accidents, even those that occur at slower speeds, have the capacity to cause critical and possibly life-threatening injuries.
