Ringgold, LA – Man Killed in Boating Accident on Lake Bistineau
Ringgold, LA (July 04, 2021) – A man was killed during a boating accident on Lake Bistineau on Saturday, July 3rd in Ringgold.
The victim, who has since been identified as Keshaun Garner, 20, a resident of Bossier City, was out boating with friends north of the dam on the Bienville Parish side of the lake when he was tossed overboard.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents responded to distress calls at about 8:00 p.m. Joining them in their search efforts were the Natchitoches Parish sheriff’s dive team, South Bossier Fire District No. 2 personnel, and Bienville Fire District 4 & 5.
His body was recovered at about 9:00 a.m. the following morning.
An official with Natchitoches Fire District No. 9 said they used sonar technology to help them locate Garner’s body, which was found under 11 feet of water.
The operator of the boat, 20-year-old Haynes M. Meek, a resident of Shreveport, was arrested for operating or driving a vessel while intoxicated.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be pending.
