Calcasieu Parish, LA – Imy Lamar Dickson Identified as Victim of Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-10

May 7, 2024

Calcasieu Parish, LA (August 02, 2021) – On Friday, July 30th, at about 4:15 p.m., troopers from the Louisiana State Police responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 about a mile east of State Highway 397 in Calcasieu Parish.

The driver of the 2004 BMW sedan is identified as 37-year-old Imy Lamar Dickson of Harvey.

Investigators learned that the driver of the BMW was heading westbound on I-10, possibly at a lower rate of speed than surrounding traffic. The driver of a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling in the same direction, also in the outside lane of I-10 behind several other vehicles and overtaking the slower-moving BMW.

The drivers of the other, smaller vehicles were able to take evasive actions and maneuver around the BMW. The driver of the tractor-trailer, however, was not able to circumvent the BMW and hit the back of it, causing both vehicles to leave the righthand side of the roadway. After they exited the interstate, both vehicles crashed into several trees before coming to a stop.

Dickson sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The passenger in the BMW received life-threatening injuries and was taken by Acadian Air Med to a hospital in Lafayette.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was moderately injured.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim. Imy Lamar Dickson, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
