Chain-Reaction Accidents in New Orleans

6.20 New Orleans, LA - Teenager Killed in Pile-Up Accident on I-10 Near Bonnabel Blvd

Multi-vehicle accidents, also known as chain-reaction accidents, are a common style of Louisiana car accident that is most often caused by tailgating, or one vehicle following too closely to another. Louisiana driving law requires drivers to keep a reasonable distance between themselves and other vehicles at all times.

When one vehicle tailgates another, any slowing or braking done by the leading car can easily cause the second to crash into its rear-end. The force of the resulting impact could be enough to thrust the first car into the rear-end of the vehicle in front of it, causing serious damage to multiple victims and multiple vehicles.
